The National
Disability Insurance Scheme define capacity building as: Making sure
individuals with disability and their families have the skills, resources and
confidence they need to participate in the community or access the same sort of
opportunities or services as other individuals.
The NDIS interfaces
individuals with disability, their families and carers with government services
and community activities, and works to build comprehensive networks, workplace
environments and services. The NDIS doesn't supplant services somewhere else in
government or the network.
There are
numerous who are new to 'Capacity Building' term and are unaware of What is Capacity Building. Capacity Building is supporting people and families to
practice their own choice and control, develop new types of support and skill
that build independence and a happy, joyful life. Capacity building isn’t an
objective in itself. It is a methodology that enables people to access and
create a life that is significant to them now and into the future.
Help with finding
and applying for shared or independent accommodation and assistance with
managing rental agreements and responsibilities. You may choose to utilize
these funds to engage a service provider to help you search for appropriate
rental properties online and fill out application forms, for example.
Short-term or
continuous support to fortify your ability to manage your life freely and
participate in your community. Can incorporate support to participate in
community access programs or group activities. If your goals incorporate
improving your social skills and making new friends, you could get funding to
attend a community camp or Vacation Group, for instance, where you can meet
people and build your relationship skills.
NDIS Capacity
Building supports to find and maintain employment at all phases of your life.
